What we cover
We publish guides to local businesses, restaurants, shopping, maritime attractions, leisure activities and essential services. Our goal is to help residents and visitors find useful local information and make their own choices.
Hartlepool and the wider area
We distinguish the town centre and Church Street from the Marina waterfront and the historic Headland peninsula. Seaton Carew is a separate coastal settlement within the wider Hartlepool urban and borough context, with its own beach, seafront and local shops. West View, Rift House, Owton Manor, Fens Estate, Bishop Cuthbert, Throston and Clavering are distinct residential or mixed-use localities. Greatham, Elwick, Hart Village and Dalton Piercy are separate villages.
Crimdon Dene is a nearby coastal destination north of town; South Gare and Teesmouth belong to the wider estuarine landscape south of Hartlepool. University Hospital of North Tees is in Stockton-on-Tees, not Hartlepool. Wynyard is a separate business location. We include these places only where the scope supports it and identify their actual location.
Hartlepool Borough Council is the local unitary authority. We check which organisation is responsible before directing readers to council or public services. Hartlepool Railway Station, the Transport Interchange, the Durham Coast Line and local bus network have changing schedules and facilities; practical travel advice should be checked against current operator information.
Coastal settings differ. A marina walkway, Seaton Carew promenade, open beach, Headland path and dune or estuary area are not interchangeable. We describe access and location as clearly as possible and encourage readers to check current tides, weather, safety and environmental guidance for outdoor plans.
Sources and changing details
Where practical, we use sources close to the subject, including a business’s own information, Hartlepool Borough Council, NHS information, venue and organiser pages, transport operators and relevant public bodies. Shop tenants, market arrangements, opening hours, prices, hospital services, parking conditions, coastal access and event schedules can change. We check current information where feasible and encourage readers to confirm important details directly.
We do not invent business names, ratings, reviews, prices, opening hours, event dates or service coverage. Historical shipbuilding and industrial activity is not presented as a statement about current employment. We distinguish current institutions and venues from older attraction names, and developing regeneration projects from completed facilities. We avoid unsupported claims about safety, health outcomes, property values or individual businesses.
Recommendations and commercial relationships
A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not by themselves determine our editorial view.
Corrections
To report a possible error, email [email protected]. Include the page address, the detail in question and a reliable source if possible. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; substantial corrections may be identified on the page.
A request does not automatically require removal or amendment. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.
Scope
Our guides are selective, not a complete directory. Inclusion is not a guarantee of quality, availability or suitability, and absence is not criticism. Confirm important details with the relevant organisation before making a decision.
